The Division of Sport Science at Incheon National University: Pioneering the Future of Sport Science

Community

ATP

ATP is an abbreviation combining three key areas of focus in the Division of Sport Science: Athletics, Training, and Physiology. It also carries a double meaning, referencing ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate), the primary energy source for physical movement.

The club aims to support students aspiring to become future trainers or sports instructors by helping them prepare for certification exams and deepen their knowledge of exercise physiology, a core subject of their major. ATP plans to establish a strong foundation in exercise physiology, organize study groups for the Level 2 Sports Instructor Certificate and academic society activities, and, based on certification results, offer further advanced study programs. Through acquiring basic knowledge of exercise physiology — an essential subject for sports instructor certification — students will progressively build expertise necessary for advanced certifications like the Health Exercise Manager Certificate and the Korean Exercise Specialist Certificate, studying advanced topics such as pathophysiology, exercise stress testing, health-related physical fitness assessments, and exercise prescription.

Moreover, ATP will promote active communication with the Exercise Physiology and Biochemistry Laboratory, encouraging undergraduate students to participate in major-related research, thesis writing, and academic conference presentations, thereby enhancing their basic research skills.

In summary, the club’s ultimate goals are to promote employment through the acquisition of national certifications and to encourage graduate school admission through participation in research and academic activities.
